Godnook Privacy Policy

Godnook ("we", "us") makes a calm nightly Bible-story app for families. Godnook is parent-managed: a parent or guardian creates and controls the account, and this policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have. We designed Godnook to collect as little as possible.

Who the app is for

Godnook is intended to be set up and operated by a parent or guardian. Children listen to stories; the account, settings, and any purchases are controlled by the adult. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children beyond a child's first name, which the parent optionally enters to personalize the experience.

Information we collect

Account information - the parent's email address and password (passwords are stored securely by our authentication provider; we never see them in plain text).
Profile information you enter - the child's first name, an age range, a chosen bedtime, and a goal/preference. This is used only to personalize the app (the greeting, the reminder, the story level).
Usage analytics - anonymous, aggregated product analytics about how the app is used (for example, which screens are viewed and which buttons are tapped), plus basic technical information such as device model, operating-system version, app version, and a randomly generated analytics identifier. This helps us understand where the experience can be improved.
Subscription status - whether an account has an active subscription. Payments themselves are processed by Apple or Google; we never receive your card or payment details.

We do not collect precise location, contacts, photos, microphone input, or advertising identifiers, and Godnook contains no third-party advertising.

How we use information

To provide and personalize the app (sign-in, the nightly story, the greeting, the bedtime reminder).
To operate subscriptions and unlock content for members.
To understand product usage in aggregate so we can improve the app.
To keep the app secure and diagnose problems.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with advertisers.

Bedtime reminders

Bedtime reminders are scheduled and shown on your device. Setting a reminder time does not send that information to us for the purpose of the reminder.

Service providers

We use a small number of trusted providers to run the app. They process data only on our behalf:

Google Firebase - account authentication and secure storage of your profile information.
PostHog - product analytics (usage events and the basic technical information described above).
RevenueCat - managing subscription status.
Apple / Google - processing payments for subscriptions.

Data retention and deletion

We keep your information for as long as your account is active. You can delete your account and its data at any time from inside the app: Settings → Delete account. This permanently removes your account and the profile information associated with it. You may also contact us to request deletion.

Security

We use industry-standard measures (including encryption in transit) to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your data and limit what we collect.

Children's privacy

Godnook is parent-managed and is not directed at children for the purpose of collecting their personal information. We do not knowingly collect personal information from a child beyond the first name a parent chooses to enter. If you believe a child has provided us information without a parent's involvement, contact us and we will delete it.

Your choices

Edit your profile information in the app at any time.
Turn the bedtime reminder on or off in Settings.
Delete your account and data in Settings.
Manage or cancel a subscription through your Apple or Google account.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will change the "Last updated" date above and, for significant changes, provide notice in the app.
